We're pleased to offer the following services in our West Melbourne Veterinary Clinic:

Complementary Vaccines with Our Wellness Program

At Maybeck Animal Hospital, while are are fully equipped to treat all manner of animals diseases, one of our primary focuses is disease preventive wellness care and early disease detection.  With the rise of mobile vaccine clinics and discount shot facilities that offer cheap vaccines with no examination by a licensed veterinarian or routine wellness care, in challenging economic times pet owners are turning to these options...and as a result, routine well visits for pets have taken a down turn in the past several years.  To address this troubling trend, we offer all vaccines complementary with routine well care.  For cats, this includes a yearly examination and stool analysis (for parasites); for dogs, this includes yearly examination, stool analysis, and heartworm screening.    In this manner, pet owners can expect highly affordable well care with disease screening and early disease detection.

Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency and prepared for your arrival.

Emergency & Urgent Care

We have veterinarians and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet may need. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such a snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency and prepare for your arrival.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Services Provided

Maybeck Animal Hospital is happy to offer advanced imaging provided by Sound Technologies, the industry leader in veterinary diagnostic imaging.  Imaging is an integral component of optimal diagnostic capability.  Specifically, we have both digital radiography and ultrasound at our disposal, to allow for the best possible diagnostic imaging for your pets.

DRRES_1.jpgDigital Radiography

Digital radiography offers x-ray images of high resolution and precise detail that are not possible with standard x-ray film.  Our TruDX x-ray technology as a result is capable of illustrating even the most subtle lesions that would likely be missed with standard x-ray film.DRRES1_1.jpg

Ultrasound provides close up,  fine, soft tissue detail of organs and glands of the body. In addition, through the use of a feature called color flow doppler, our Logiq Book ultrasound unit is also capable of evaluating

systemic blood flow in and out of organs, as well as to evaluate systemic circulation.  While this is an invaluable diagnostic tool when trying to visualize important abdominal architecture, this is exceedingly helpful in visualization of the heart, its chambers and valves, as well as the integrity of blood flow through the heart.

Finally, ultrasound also enables non-surgical biopsies of chest and abdominal lesions and masses, through ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy with only mild sedation.

Laser.jpgMLS Laser

MLS Therapy is a new therapy for treating pain, inflammation, swelling, and for repairing injured tissues.  With regard to pain reduction, the therapy laser stimulates the synthesis of pain reducing biochemicals in the body, specifically endorphins and encephalin.  Since the laser stimulates lymphatic drainage from a site, it also considerably reduces swelling and inflammation, which also has a pain reduction effect.  Finally, the therapy laser stimulates muscle and trigger point providing musculoskeletal pain relief.

Accelerated healing is another benefit of the therapy laser, as photons of emitted light penetrate deeply into tissues to stimulate rapid cellular reproduction and growth.  These photons also increase the amount of energy available to cells so that they can absorb nutrients while eliminating waste products faster.  As a result of all of this, tissues such as tendons, ligaments, muscle and skin are repaired more quickly.

Another phenomenon that stimulates faster healing is the opening or dilation of small blood vessels in an area.  More blood supply brings in healing cells faster, accelerating the healing process while reducing the formation of scar tissue.

Your dogs may enjoy a comfortable and sanitary stay in our brand new, state of the art boarding kennel.  Our kennel runs are complete with state of art masonry construction, epoxy flooring and stainless steel caging, capable of boarding any size pet.  All guests are given soft bedding, as well as ample opportunity several times per day to expend energy in our fenced in exercise area.  Although our exercise area is fenced in, however, dogs are never left outside unsupervised.  The boarding kennel is also a facility kept separate from our hospital ward.  No boarder comes in contact with, or shares space with any hospitalized patients.

Just as we maintain in every other aspect of our hospital, Maybeck believes in quality over quantity.  Therefore, our boarding exists on a small scale, with 24 available runs.  This prevents overcrowding, enables technicians to offer more individualized care and attention, and decreases the likelihood of infectious diseases, such as kennel cough.  Because of our limited spaces, however, it is recommended that, when possible, book your pet's stay well in advance to ensure available space for your dogs.

A veterinarian and/or certified veterinary technician is on-call at all times to ensure the health and safety of our guests.  This is beneficial for all guests, but especially so for senior/geriatric dogs, and dogs with pre-existing health conditions

Guest Requirements

All guests must be up to date on rabies, DHPP, and bordatella vaccines. All vaccines must have been administered a minimum of 2 weeks prior to stay.  Guest must also have proof of negative heartworm status, with test having been performed no more than one year before stay.  Guests are expected to be treated regularly with flea and tick preventative products.  Any fleas and ticks found on a guest will be treated at owner's expense.   Excessively aggressive dogs are not permitted to stay with us.  Overly aggressive dogs pose a threat to our staff and to themselves.  Therefore, we ask that you exercise discretion in this matter, and do not book a stay for a knowingly aggressive dog.  Dogs that are left with us that exhibit dangerous behavior, will be assessed a $2.00 per day surcharge, and said owner will lose boarding privileges for all pets.

Regenerative Medicine With Stem Cell and PRP Therapy

Regenerative veterinary medicine refers to the repair of tissues by using the body's own intrinsic healing mechanisms.  We activate the body's cellular, neurological, and blood born healing capacities with side effect free therapies like Class IV therapy laser and acupuncture and the results have been remarkable.  With increasing momentum of stem cell and platelet rich plasma treatment (PRP), we are now taking regenerative medicine to another level.  For more information,  visit our blog post below

Nutritional Management

Adequan_1.jpgFor management of spinal disc disease, joint pain, and post operative orthopedic surgery, optimal results are obtained by combining our therapy laser with nutrional management with Adequan and Dasuquin.  Adequan is given by injection with each laser treatment, while Dasuquin is offered daily by oral administration with treat like flavor tablets.  These nutritional compounds work by infusing the body with natural anti-inflammatory relief, while providing the raw materials for the restoration of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and other connective tissues.  The result is faster healing, increased mobility, and decreased pain with less or even no need for anti-inflammatory drugs.
